Service Description

Potters Thumb is holding sessions at Cass Art - Islington demonstrating one of the most practiced but also fundamental techniques to build with clay The class will be setting you up to understand the tolerances of clay and the basic principals / processes to allow you to run with your creativity and building safely with clay whether it is functional ware or sculptural This is a good class to attend if you wish to progress and further your interest in ceramics / pottery An opportunity to get introduced to the basics but also a good refresher if you have worked with clay in the past This class is suitable for all ages We will be demonstrating techniques in building a bowl or cup with clay tube fired twice in a kiln, demonstrating surface pattern and mark making amongst other advice to work with clay and available tools to use in your making process available to purchase at Cass Art You will get to collect the finished item from the store a few days later allowing the pots to dry after going through the firing processes. Your work can also be posted to you for convenience at a small cost - kindly let us know when attending the class if you require this service Students per session 10 students Sessions include: - Clay - Good vibes Things to bring - A hand towel - patience
