Service Description
We are delighted to inform you about a sequence of workshops that will take place at the remarkable venue of our newly established pottery in Malta - Naxxar. The session will be led by Mark Ciavola, an accomplished potter and the founder of Potters Thumb. The course aims to thoroughly analyse the results and procedures necessary for delivering a successful and pleasurable clay sculpting experience. Throughout the class, you will have the opportunity to create a personalised flower pot that will add a distinctive touch to your garden. You will receive instructions on simple hand building techniques, allowing you to experiment with patterns in order to achieve an aesthetically pleasing surface texture on your pottery. Appropriate for individuals of all proficiency levels, particularly ideal for novices or those seeking to reengage with clay sculpting in order to enhance their expertise and understanding. The results of the workshop • Examining the visual characteristics of surface patterns and textures • Clay hand-building techniques - Slab building / coil construction • Idea generation and exploration • Creating a personalized flower pot with a distinctive surface design using clay, to be fired to temperatures of up to 1120 degrees Centigrade Final Objective: • To create a flower pot featuring a distinctive surface texture and pattern that is exclusive to your design. Essential items to bring to the session • Apron • Hand Towel • Notebook -to take notes during the session • Important: Have a look at various surface patterns or texture either man made or organic. This will be used as inspiration for the surface design applied to your plant pot.
